Michael Jordan and Fishing

What does Michael Jordan and fishing have to do with one another?

It was a chilly winter night and I was watching the my first Bulls games through the snowy picture on our little 13 inch TV.

Michael Jordan was playing and I had to watch him. It didn’t matter that I couldn’t see him very well and that I had to sit real close to see and listen. I was watching him conquer the world when I should have been in bed.

The rest of the house was sleeping but I couldn’t miss the game. I wasn’t even a sports fan, neither was my family. but I had to hear the crowd. I had to feel the energy of the game. I had to feel the energy of something bigger. That bigger being MJ.

I would watch whenever I could and not get in trouble for being up to late. I wanted to be part of it. I wanted to know that I could do anything I wanted to. We lived in a little Indiana town miles from a store and about an hour from a big city. My only contact with the outside world was school, TV and the radio.

I just didn’t want to settle for being ordinary.

When you feel inspired so much by watching sports, listening to successful people, finding yourself sneaking to watch a game, you are being called to something bigger.

I think back to my favorite movies growing up, the karate kid, footloose, dirty dancing, and they all have the same things. Someone wanting something so bad, that they would do anything to get it. Coming from a place of despair to achieving their greatest dream.

The thing they have in common is that they were inspired by something greater and surrounded themselves with people that would help them achieve what they wanted.

They wanted to break free from ordinary. I was a young girl that had no desire to play basketball. I think I was about 5 ft. and wasn’t exactly going to make a jump shot but I was still inspired by greatness.

I wanted to be around people that beat the odds. They wanted to succeed so much that they would give anything to have it. Then I moved my life in that direction.

Do you find that you are motivated by others? You want to have you cake and eat it too but you just can’t find the fork?

You live a life where you are successful in your job, but have a little challenges when it comes to relationships, or living out your passions.

Are you tired of seeing the bobber dip under but you can’t catch the big fish. You think you are doing it all right, but you might be using the wrong bait.

Maybe you are even using the wrong gear, screw that bobber, I can just do it without help. I can watch my line and you stare at it for so long that you are memorized and can’t even see the fish hit. Next thing you know your poles in the lake and you’re pissed off.

Then you think to yourself it must be pole or it was a turtle that took my bait. You make up all these reasons that you can’t catch a break, that you missed out on the little hints of what you needed to be more successful.

Next thing you know you are in the lake on a boat feeling good and damn, it happens again.

You ready to give up and say “screw it” I’m done, but you can feel that little gut feeling saying “F*** that” I will catch that damn fish.

That night you are watching a YouTube video, or the outdoor channel and learning all you can so you will kick a** the next time.

You put in the hard work, you always try to improve even when you fail.

You know that you are destine to succeed.

You head tells you “suck it up” and “let’s go!”

Then you’re playing the game of life and you get sidelined again.

Enough already!

Stop fishing with the wrong bait and equipment!

So what does me watching Michael Jordan play basketball and fishing have in common? When you educate, plan, practice, and strive to be better you will always WIN!

Take a look inside of yourself and dig deep.

You know what you want, and where you want to go.

You weren’t meant to be mediocre. You were meant to not only eat your cake, but bake that bad boy from scratch, and devour it.

I know you want more!

You have success in you, or you would have given up already.

My passion in life is to see you succeed. The thing that lights me up in the morning, is that feeling of pure joy, knowing that I have, and will inspire strong successful men, to live a life they dream of.

That you will have more joy in your life and the ones that surround you. That through you living your life’s passion and connecting in with who you are the world is a better place. The world is waiting for your gifts and talents, they are seeking for the man who will lead, and they want to be inspired by you.
